Born in Lindsay,Ontario Canada I first developed a love for nature and animals on my parents dairy farm. Later, my family moved to Saskatchewan where I graduated from high school, and decided to pursue a career in nursing and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. In kindergarten, my teacher entered one of my drawings of the Character, "Olive Oil" at the county fair, I coloured her eye blue and won first prize! A self taught artist, I have never taken an art lesson, unless you wish to count the short art classes we had in grade school. I have always enjoyed doodling, drawing and mucking around with paint, crayons or any other medium available!
I continued my interest in art throughout the years, learning through books, from other artistic friends and artists I admired. Still my fan list reached as far as my children, grandchildren and a few select family members.
In 2011, after our home flooded, and I became seriously ill from the mold, my husband and I chose to move to the beautiful Okanagan valley. Now retired from a life long passion of nursing, I have found more time to pursue my passion of painting, while sharing the beauty of God's creations.
I enjoy painting landscapes and seascapes using water colours, oils and acrylics and drawing with graphite, charcoal, oil pastels and coloured pencils. Recently, I have been working on wildlife and pet portraits. Check out my blog. "What's on the easel" for my newest works! http://artistlyndabateszimmer.blogspot.ca
After much encouragement from family and friends, I found the courage to share my paintings and drawings with a larger audience. It has been my dream to devote myself to painting in retirement. I am now living that dream in the beautiful town of Osoyoos, British Columbia!
